Kennedy’s All-American barber club brings the “old-school barbershop” feel to the 21st century. While we have only been around since 2008, we have had clients that have been with us since the very beginning. We have had young men grow up from our kid’s cuts to our straight razor shaves, we’ve given the college grad a clean cut for his interview, and we’ve prepped the groom for his big day. Some club members come in once a month for a cut, some twice a week for a shave and even some that just stop in to brighten our day. Each Kennedy’s member makes an impact on the staff’s day and the club’s atmosphere. Some members really leave their stamp on our business, and our hearts. At our Winter Park, Florida club, one member Mr. Ed Hillstead, embodied the true Kennedy’s spirit and did nothing but put a smile on our faces when he came through the door. “Your crew [at Winter Park Kennedy’s] treated him with every kindness, as he showed up with no appointment” stated Mr. Hillstead’s friend Kevin Walls. “they just treated him like a king” Mr. Ed, as he was more commonly known, was a devoted member at Kennedy’s since the beginning and continued to be through his 105th birthday before he passed away. Here at Kennedy’s we are not just about providing you with the best haircut and straight razor shave, but also about building a community. Mr.Ed was a man we were honored to serve at Kennedy’s and we will miss him greatly. We would love to hear your Kennedy’s story, too! If you have had a notable experience at Kennedy’s and would like to submit a testimonial, please do so on our Contact Us page or submit to info@kennedysbarberclub.com.
The folks at Gear Patrol recently took a trip that makes any Irish Whiskey drinker pretty jealous. Fortunately they documented their story for an article, where they summarize the history of Irish Whiskey, the process for making it, and even describe the differences between some of the most famous brands of it. If anyone from Gear Patrol is reading this blog, we know of a few Gentlemen that would love to tag along for similar trips in the future.
A great article by Adweek, on how the art of shaving has been used in advertising for years. We can relate to sons gazing up in admiration at their fathers shaving, that’s why we offer Memberships where fathers and sons can enjoy a trip to the barbershop together.
We’ve been named the “Best Barbershop” in Orlando for the past three years in a row (six times in the past seven years). The great people of Orlando (Orlandoans?) have been really great to us, and we’d like to keep our streak going. If you wouldn’t mind taking a few minutes to cast your vote for Kennedy’s (and your other favorite Orlando haunts, hangouts, and service providers), we’d really appreciate it. Go here to do that now. The rules state that you have to enter a valid email address to make your vote count, and you can only vote once per email. If you have a bunch of email addresses (maybe old ones you don’t really use any more), please feel free to cast multiple votes. If you’re a one-email-address kind of guy, it’d be great if you’d share this with a couple other folks. Thanks in advance for your continued support! It means a lot to us!
At Kennedy’s we get some different requests from time-to-time and the story behind this short video is a great one. This is the video of Tamques Elementary School Principal Michael Cullen on his latest visit to our Kennedy’s Club in Westfield, New Jersey. As part of Principal Cullen’s annual tradition he challenged students to read a combined total of 150,000 minutes and, in exchange, he would perform one of the crazy stunts they suggested. In past years he has kissed a python, been duct taped to a wall and spent a day on Roller Blades. [trafficplayer_youtube_video width=”500″ height=”280″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/Q53EQwCOjZw?&autohide=0&autoplay=0&controls=1&hd=0&rel=0&showinfo=0″ ][/trafficplayer_youtube_video] The students surpassed the goal reading (or being read to) for a total of 378,000 minutes, and raising over $10,300 that will be used to purchase books for the Tamaques library and to assist Union Beach Memorial School after damage sustained from Superstorm Sandy. In return Principal Cullen had to grow out his hair and beard and then visit Kennedy’s to undergo a transformation into school mascot Tami the Tiger for an assembly. Visit http://thealternativepress.com/articles/westfields-tamaques-school-principal-gets-extrem for more on the story and for pictures of his completed transformation. We can’t wait to see what he does next year.
“Jeremy makes really good hair cuts! He is very talented and I highly recommend him here. For the quality of the hair cuts, the price is great. They also give you drinks and have 3 TV’s. They also offer shaving here, which is nice, and they do a good job at it. Go here!”
